The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the third iteration of President Donald Trump’s travel ban on five majority-Muslim countries on Tuesday, in a 5-4 decision. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in his decision that Trump had used his executive authority to “suspend entry of aliens into the United States.” The president responded to the court’s decision in a Tuesday morning tweet, and later called it a “tremendous victory” and “moment of profound vindication.” Omar Jadwat, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, said that the ruling “will go down in history as one of the Supreme Court’s great failures.”
