Thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Manhattan Saturday to protest U.S police brutality. The three-day action under the slogan #RiseUpOctober is centred around the victims of police violence, through a diverse, grassroots coalition of activists and concerned citizens. Supported by notable figures like scholar and academic Cornel West and actor Jesse Williams, the movement condemns a state-sanctioned system which they say endorses campaigns of “police terror” in poor communities, and especially in communities of color.
