I became Politically Aware, during the McCarthy Era. My Family was headed by a Radical Longshoreman, a supporter of Harry Bridges, and a die-hard Socialist. The 'Old Man' as we called him, handed out Left-Wing Pamphlets while in his 90s, and flew the Flag prominently to deflect accusations that he was Un-American.
The Communist Party was targeted often in the News. The Rosenbergs were well known members of the CPA in New York, and participated in the public rallys and marches that are so dear to the Left-Wing. No cause was ignored - in a time when such flaunting of Communist Sympathies was unwise. When Ethyl's Brother David Greenglass, was arrested as a Spy, the roof caved in on the Rosenbergs.
Their story has haunted me my whole life. This interview is moving and touches on the reality of run-away Propaganda. It is as real a threat today as it was in the 1950s
