What if populists are not supporters of "deplorables" but of the People? What if the real political divide isn't Left vs. Right, but Populists representing the People vs. non-Populists representing the elite 1%? Historically, many of the things Populists supported, progressive taxation, votes for women, ending the gold standard, came to pass under Populist reforms like Teddy Roosevelt.
