Concerned citizens wanted to create a barrier between police and protestors to keep the peace during the riots in Baltimore in 2015.  That’s when news cameraman Van Applegate ‏took the photo shown in the link below, which quickly swept across Twitter. Applegate said at the time that he hoped his iPhone image would become “the thing that people remembered most” about the Baltimore riots.  It's hard to tell whether the police were being guarded from the protestors, or whether the protestors were being guarded from the police, but separating them seems to have had good results. It's never too late for good news. Click below for photo.
