Very easy for the layperson to understand.
The majority of us live under the threatening nuclear cloud because of some people’s greed & stupidity.
Elected lawmaker(s) take campaign donations from defense companies, to be sure, but are also trying to deliver jobs in a political environment that has been hostile to government spending on anything but defense.
Defense is the safety net where other jobs are few.
