Why, over a week after the second of two major hurricanes in a week blasted and devastated Puerto Rico, leaving it's 3.4 million US citizens without food, water, electricity, telephones, healthcare or even knowledge of their loved ones on other parts of the island, has the Trump administration and Congress done next to nothing to aid the island colony?
Trump this week refused a request by the island's governor for a waiver of a law that requires all aid from the US to be on US-made, and US-owned and operated ships -- an act he waived for Florida and Texas.
And while the US sent the Navy within days of Haiti's earthquake, no such action has been ordered for Puerto Rico in an equally dire crisis.
Why the inaction this time? Could it be that most of these citizens are Spanish-speaking?
