A major fuel pipeline ruptured this week in Shelby County, Alabama, prompting both Alabama and Georgia to declare state emergencies. Yet, other than local media outlets, the mainstream media has been curiously silent about the situation. The fuel line that ruptured carries refined gasoline from Houston to the East Coast. Since Monday it has leaked over 250,000 gallons of of gasoline. It normally transports 1.3 million barrels of refined gasoline per day but has been shut down since Friday. State emergencies have been declared by Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama and Governor Nathan Deal in Georgia warning residents for potential fuel shortages.
