Hurricane Matthew hits eastern Cuba

No fatalities reported so far, but HUGE material damage reported in Cuban Guantanamo province: homes destroyed, roads blocked by debris leaving areas isolated, power and telephone lines down. Govt begins to evaluate damage, recovery works begin. Matthew also affected Jamaica, left people dead in Haiti and Dominican Republic. Now the hurricane is expected to cross almost the whole of the Bahamas archipelago and to approach the US East coast.
