OK, it's summer and all journalists are poets at heart; but aside from the colorful metaphor, you may find by wading through it as I did, that the gentleman in question is both articulate and an excellent judge of people.
I never would have thought it from his first display of boot-licking. But now, having read what he said prior to his new appointment, my suspicion is that that guy who said all those things is in an excellent spot
to sway our malleable leader in the right direction, just by association. He can play a sort of jester role, and facing the press,he can bend the absurd to the palatable, at least. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to have a few smart guys around, even if they're pretending to be stupid. Maybe it'll rub off!
