I am about halfway through the 1994 version of this little book, which I picked up in bookstore some time ago. This link is to Chapter 4, "The Modern Era", of the new, revised 2011 version, which Dr. Chirot posted on his web site.
Dr. Chirot is currently the Herbert J. Ellison Professor of Russian and Eurasian Studies at the University of Washington.
