Some extremists weaponize irony and absurdity as a method for recruiting new members and avoiding criticism. Such tactics can mask the danger that extremists pose, experts say.

So how's that for a new-age headline? Sometimes they're filled with acronyms and I have to laugh because I don't know what they mean; this one just evoked a hoot at how far we've come, I suppose, in the semantic world, if nowhere else. The irony as I see it is the relative lack of sophisticated thought that transpires as actual acts evolve. Cynicism meanwhile, is the watchword for people with, as their Dear Leader put it "nothing to lose".
