Fight Socialism Smear

Andrew Gillum, a progressive Democratic candidate for governor, lost his 2018 race by about 33,000 votes in the Sunshine State. He lost after Florida Republicans branded him a socialist.

Unfortunately, Gillum did not confront the socialism smear, which resonates with some Latin American Floridians who equate socialism with brutal authoritarian rule. Something President Donald Trump knows about, ironically. Trump brags about grabbing women by the p*ssy. He tells his MAGA crowd participants to beat up protesters. Trump pines for the good old days when cops beat the sh*t out of suspects. And he “jokes” about winning a third term.

I hope Sanders supporters will read this Washington Post op ed. It can help Sanders in Florida.
