Facebook's Dangerous Push to Appease the Right

The New York Times exposé of Facebook reveals not only their lies and smears, but also just how much they kowtowed to the right.

The Definers peppered journalists with information insinuating that George Soros, the Jewish billionaire financier who has criticized Facebook’s inaction on disinformation, was behind the attacks by Freedom from Facebook. (Soros’s charitable organization says it has donated to members of Freedom from Facebook, but never funded the group itself nor any efforts to target Facebook.)

To placate the right, the liberal company Facebook misled the nation again and again about the nature of Russian interference in the election. They repeatedly fed right wing conspiracies while waving away criticism from the left. It’s hard to see how an ardently Trumpist company could do much better.
