Among the most argued Obama Administration justification for
TPP is that failure to reach a free trade agreement with Asian economies would
allow China to set the global norms. This article points out many of the back
door tactics that China can use to game the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) for
its benefit, that are not acknowledged by the TPP bipartisan beltway hucksters.
True to form hucksters don’t acknowledged the rotten apples hidden in their
offerings.
One additional tactic China can use to wreak
havoc against TPP counties is to utilize its subsidiaries in Vietnam, etc. to initiate
Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) actions against the United States and
other TPP counties, but China not being a TPP county will be insulated from
similar action by TTP counties. The United State has negotiated a partnership
where potentially heads China wins, tails China wins.
