"Denver is a classic example of impeccably liberal Democrats collaborating to undermine & privatize public schools: they leverage out-of-town money with local money and political muscle to purloin control of public schools. Non-educator Michael Bennett as Sup't of Schools began by displaying dire statistics from annual state testing -- to   claim failure and disfunction, and to launch the 'bad teacher' theory, that  empties the system of  authentic professional voices who knew what learning looked like. Bennet treated schools like stocks: keep the winners, close the losers.  Almost all the loser schools were in poor and minority communities. Privatizers point to Denver as a success story, but in truth "the schools are a “dystopian nightmare” The year that Bennet became superintendent, the heirs of the Walmart fortune opened the Charter School Growth Fund just down the road from Denver!"
