If herd immunity occurs at 20%, many areas, like NYC, are already there. If herd immunity occurs at 40%, it should be possible to isolate the vulnerable healthy population until it occurs for everyone else.
It's still unknown how many people have/had the virus, or how long immunity lasts - also critical to know when planning for a vaccine.
