China 'modified' the weather to create clear skies for political celebration - study

The Guardian recently had a piece on weather modification in China. They make it sound like weather modification has just come upon us, and that China has really learned how to sing that Johnny Nash song about "blueskying."  If only all our human worries were so easy as cloudseeding...

As usual on the horrible-ideas front, America led the way.  I quote from the Army War College Report on climate change:

United States' cloudseeding techniques used aircraft to disperse lead iodide into the atmosphere above portions of Southeast Asia to create a super-saturated environment during the Vietnamese monsoon season. The increased precipitation produced significant degradation of Vietnamese logistic capabilities as vehicles, carts, and men remained bogged down on certain roadways and paths soaked by nearly continuous rainfall.
