Manning was being held in contempt of court, but was released following the expiration of the term of the Eastern District of Virginia Grand Jury. She had been behind bars since March 8 after she refused to give evidence against Assange before a grand jury. Manning's legal team revealed on Thursday she has already been served with another subpoena and could be back in jail as soon as next week. The government whistleblower was released two days after she filed a legal motion stating that she will never testify before the grand jury. (Federal law only allows a recalcitrant witness to be jailed on civil contempt if there's a chance that the incarceration will coerce the witness into testifying) 'I can - without any hesitation - state that nothing that will convince me to testify before this or any other grand jury for that matter,' she wrote.
