Trump commuted the sentences of former IL Gov Blagojevich and financier Michael Milken, and pardoned former NY Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik. Trump pardoned former San Francisco 49ers owner DeBartolo and former Republican lobbyist David Safavian. Blagojevich was
convicted of corruption months after appearing on Trump's NBC show "The Apprentice." He was sentenced to 14 years in prison after he tried to sell Obama’s former seat when elected in 2008. He was charged with 12+ other crimes.
Blagojevich was not scheduled to be released until 2024, but his wife, Patti, went on a media blitz to lobby Trump to pardon her husband, comparing the special prosecutor investigation into Blagojevich's corruption to the Bob Mueller investigation, which Trump decried as a "witch hunt.”
