Kasich presents himself as the responsible, sensible candidate, not a dyed-in-the-wool conservative like Trump&Cruz. Although Resseger doesn't mention it,  Kasich tried to eliminate  collective bargaining (the law was repealed by a referendum). He is a strong proponent of privatization, including charters, vouchers, and cyber charters. "He is a tax slasher and a charter school supporter, and delusional about his accomplishments as Ohio's governor. He claims the state has turned around economically, but it hasn't yet come to Ohio's Rust Belt cities. He claims he has turned around the Cleveland schools --NOT TRUE!  Local governments have tried to pass local taxes to make up for enormous losses of state revenue from his "sharp reductions in the state's Local Government Fund -- created during the Depression when the sales tax was enacted to share money with the cities and villages."
