In the name of Martin Luther King, who was murdered after bravely condemning US wars maintaining predatory investments all around the world, a national campaign is being launched to encourage all American citizens of good faith to condemn, in King's name, the ongoing US wars on six innocent nations in the Middle East and Africa.

ThE King Condemned US Wars campaign has been kicked off at Riverside Church, the site of Martin Luther King's world shaking sermon condemning US wars and predatory investments with a nationally distributed petition to all pastors asking them to follow in Rev. Dr. King's footsteps.

Sunday, July 10, after morning service approximately one hundred parishioners eagerly put their signature below that of former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, author of the civil rights acts of "64 and "68.

The petition is in memory of activist peoples historian Howard Zinn who for years during his radio broadcasts promoted the use of salient quotes from King's Beyond Vietnam - a Time to Break Silence and Why I Am Opposed sermons given the year before he was assassinated.

T he petition , which may be downloaded from http://kingcondemneduswars.blogspot.com/ reads as follows:

  Petition to Our Pastor

We the undersigned, in the name of our national hero Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ask that you forthrightly and unequivocally condemn the blowing apart of our brothers and sisters all around the world  just as King condemned it.

We ask further that you condemn, as King did, the lies used to justify the murder and maiming of families in their own homes and villages, and the subversion, destabilization and destruction of their homelands in the interests of predatory investments,

Finally, just as Dr. King, in his sermon Beyond Vietnam - a Time to Break Silence, recounted to us the history of the lies, from 1945 onward, used to trick Americans into supporting the Vietnam war, we ask you to expose the lies that have concealed secret arrangements for CIA covert crimes against humanity in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere in the world since 1953, - arrangements that always originate within a dominant financial element that rules our society through ownership and manipulation of 98% of all electronic and print media sources of information.

Reverend, please repeat Martin Luther King's  public denunciation of American homicide abroad, currently being heartlessly practiced in six Muslim nations. King cried out, "The Greatest Purveyor of Violence in the World Today is My Own Government," "Every man of humane convictions must protest, we must all protest."  King warned us, "Silence is betrayal"

King was silenced so the imperialist wars he condemned could go on. We are no longer silent. May our clergy lead us in prosecuting those promoting war.
signatures.

At the bottom of the above mentioned web site appears a quote from MLKjr on the source of wars:

"look across the seas and see individual capitalists of the West investing huge sums of money in Asia, Africa, and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of the country. This is a role our nation has taken, " refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that comes from the immense profits of overseas investments. This is not just."

Under Pastors Who Condemn U.S. Wars
is listed, among others, the name Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Under About King Condemned U.S. Wars - Origins and Goals, the web site visitor reads a moving two sentence brief history  of the Petition to Our Pastor:

About King Condemned U.S. Wars

Origins and Goals
"On July 7, 2011, a retired lady minister on the Riverside Church Council gave guidance to an 80 year old historian-musician, lifelong distressed for feeling guilty for the slaughtering of millions of his fellow human beings while Martin Luther King's sermon Beyond Vietnam - a Time to Break Silence was being ignored by those entrusted with moral leadership by organized religious worship. The minister suggested the elderly man find peace in action preventing future lives from from being taken by Americans in ignorance and wanton indifference to their daily complicity in mass-murder for what King called unjust predatory investments. The action she suggested was to write and promote the petition which appears on this site."

This article that serves as a press release for an endeavor that has a chance to snowball into the critical mass necessary to throw the unbearable light of day on the absurd media promoted fairy tales that have been used to justify wars that have devastated vulnerable nations of the formerly occupied third world from Korea in 1950 to Libya in 2011.
