Debacle in Senate Hearing on Trump-led Insurrection

In today's hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Rules committees, the former chief of the Capitol police and two former Sergeants at Arms blamed in various ways bad intelligence on their failure to be prepared for the insurrection on January 6. I was astonished that neither they nor any of the Senators mentioned that then-president Trump was conspicuously the chief instigator and leader of the insurrection. The whole country had been told by Trump for weeks that he would not accept the electoral vote count and that it needed to be stopped. No intelligence report was needed to know that the crowds brought to DC and incited by Trump to march to the Capitol intended to get inside and stop the vote count, following Trump's implicit orders. This was certainly sufficent warning that national guard troops would be needed, and preparations ought to have been made days or weeks ahead.

How is it that none of the police and none of the Senators seem to have a brain in their heads to know that the insurrection was absolutely foreseeable? How is it that the Congressional leaders, both Democrat and Republican, failed to ensure that protection would be in place before commencing the counting of electoral votes??? These are strange times, with almost everyone living in various bubbles impermeable to those aspects of reality which they do not already recognize and accept.

Book: Bottom_Up revolution by Rob Kall

"Rob Kall has been the center of a vast, decentralized conversation for years, letting us hear in interviewees' own words the power of connection in every realm. His new book brings it all together, showing us that the old order is broken and fast being replaced from the bottom up. The old power elite may not know it yet, but millions of us -- organizers, artists, thinkers and doers -- have gotten the message. So should you, by reading Bottom-Up."
