Is a Constitutional crisis coming? The election of 2000 was essentially too close to call with the machine plus human system ("M-H" system) of voting in existence then. Since the passage of the HAVA (Help America to Vote Act) of 2002, Republicans have been working to purge voter rolls to reduce Democrats long-standing party registration advantage. Three million names were purged even before the 2004 elections. In part, Republicans claim there are many same -- name fraudulent voters. Democrats claim many really different persons have the same name. Whichever is the case counting an enormous number of votes under 50 states officials remains very vulnerable to hacking, spoilage and miscounting.
Donald Trump has already said that if he did not win it would show that the vote is rigged. About half his supporters polled expressed agreement. Imagine now that there are a number of "October surprises," events, real or staged, or just sensational charges that produce an impression of disturbance in a normal process of presidential voting and the result is another election as close as 2000.
...It's now November 15th, 2016. There has been a heavily disputed election. Charges of hacking and voter exclusions at the polls are turning into lawsuits and riots. There's been no clear winner, and news media "tell" us America's enemies around the world are beefing up their possible invasion forces. There's no 9th Supreme Court justice to award the election to one candidate as opposed to the other. Political arguments are turning into mini riots. Obama orders sub-nuclear "hold your ground warfare against North Korean alleged invaders," or against Chinese who are claimed to be taking South China Sea Islands, or against Russians who may be taking back some former Warsaw pact allies. Can the day be saved? Who and how can s/he do it?
