Delusional Voting in a Delusional Democracy

About 80 percent of voters this November will use e-voting machines. But the latest polling finds that only 31 percent of people are very confident that their vote will be accurately counted. Less than one-third of voters will have no qualms about using these easily corrupted electronic voting machines. Every objective study has found that the machines are extremely easy to rig, making the public absolutely correct in their skepticism.

So, I keep asking myself: If two-thirds of people spending money on lottery tickets, or going to casinos and gambling, or betting on sports events were not confident that what they were putting their money on was fair and honest, would they still be risking their money? If two-thirds of people were not confident that specific food products were safe, would they still consume them?

If they still risked their money or their health, what would we call them? Delusional? Or worse?

When voting in a democracy lacks honesty and credibility, so does the democracy.

I keep imagining what would happen if the two-thirds of voters lacking confidence in e-voting machines just stood outside voting places all over the country, refusing to vote with untrustworthy machines, what would happen? How could all the news media ignore that? It would be the biggest story of the century.

A mass boycott of e-voting mahines in the United States of America - just a fantasy....
