I am one of the 40 million people who are trying to live each day with a Pulmonary Disease.
It's hard enough trying to breathe with Asthma, COPD or one of the other many Respiratory conditions that can kill you in a matter of seconds.
The FDA has made it even more of a struggle. They have increased the chance of not only my death, but the deaths of thousands of Pulmonary Patients.
Albuterol CFC inhalers are to Asthmatics what insulin is to Diabetics. A life-line. This is the only comparison that I can think of. Would the FDA ever consider a ban on insulin? NO!
People tell me that the notion is insane. Is it?
Is it not insane to ban a life-saving medication to Pulmonary Patients?
Albuterol inhalers use Chlorofluorocarbons ( CFCs ) as the propellant. CFCs were one of the substances that violated the Montreal Protocol. This is an International Treaty that protects the Ozone Layer.
For the many 'tree-huggers' ( you know who you are ) this is a great thing. The more people that you kill off the less carbon footprints. Is that the thinking? How many of us will have to die slow, suffocating deaths to save Mother Earth?
The FDA has given us new Hydrofluoroalkane ( HFA ) inhalers. We are told that these inhalers are 'supposed' to be just as effective just as good and just as life-saving as our old CFCs. This is not true. I've read the FDA's propaganda...prime, clean and set my new 'Asthma Action Plan' work with my Doctor and Pharmacist. What a joke. This is not acceptable. The new HFA inhalers do not work for thousands of patients.

The petition has four thousand signatures of Patients, Parents, Care-givers and just really angry people speaking out about this insane decision. The 42 years that I have been in control of my disease have been wasted. It's suddenly out of my control. The FDA has the power to change the quality of my life and yours, or your Child's, a Family member or Friend. We cannot let this happen.
I won't start attacking the many organizations that claim to be Patient Advocates, they receive millions of dollars in funding to help us. They twisted the knife when it was put in our backs. I won't attack the Drug Companies part in this. I will state that the 'so-called' FDA Doctors, Robert Meyer and John Jenkins must be removed. They must be held accountable for their incompetent management of the CFC/HFA transition.
