Conyers Floats Inherent Contempt for Rove and Pelosi Shifts on Kucinich Impeachment Resolution Capitol Hill is buzzing today with major developments regarding our campaign for impeachment hearings for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Just today, in what could be described as a perfect impeachment storm. After years of work by so many of you, the time appears ripe to finally hold Bush and Cheney accountable.

Robert Wexler: Iran Resolution Must Change; and OEN helped Rep Wexler reach this Decision! after being interviewed on the Rob Kall radio show, and engaging in a follow-up conversation, Robert Wexler has changed his take on a bill (HR 362) that raised a lot of concerns for OEN readers. His chief of staff confirmed to me that the dialogue that started on my radio show and continued on the pages of OEN played a major role.

Rove should be held in contempt of Congress No American is above the law. None of us should be able to ignore Congress without consequence. If Mr. Rove ignores a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, then the House of Representatives should pass an Inherent Contempt citation and exercise our right to send the House Sergeant-of-Arms to gather Mr. Rove and bring him before Congress to testify.

Impeachment Update: Video of Wexler's Response to Bush Attorney General The House was correct to hold these renegade White House officials in contempt.Now,we must go further:The House must immediately consider taking the following actions:- Initiating impeachment hearings that would likely break through the reckless claims of executive privilege made by this Administration.-Approve resolution for inherent contempt citation which would give House Sergeant at Arms power to bring them before Congress

mpeachment News: Attorney General Would Refuse to Enforce Contempt The power of the subpoena-to call officials before us-is one of the most fundamental safeguards in our system of government.To have it effectively discarded-by virtue of the President instructing Administration officials to ignore a congressional subpoenas and not even appear before Congress- is unprecedented.The idea that the AG would willingly defend this position - is outrageous.
