A World for Eight-Spot Butterflies What most excites me about Julian Aguon's book No Country for Eight-Spot Butterflies is that (1) there is very little indication in the cover, the blurbs, the preface, the table of contents, etc., that it opposes war, militarism, or empire, (2) but it does, and (3) people are reading it.

Cruelty to Immigrants Is Cruelty to Children Some books shouldn't have to exist, but you're glad they do. This one describes a whole field of work "" using art-creation to help kids in Arizona and Southern California deal with trauma created by anti-immigrant policies and attitudes "" which shouldn't have to exist, but you're glad it does. The book is called Drawing Deportation: Art and Resistance Among Immigrant Children by Sylvia Rodriguez Vega.

Can You See War? The buzzing noise of a drone never ceases. A missile screaming into your house is hard to miss. Gun fire. The door kicked in. These are not subtle gestures. Yet Norman Solomon's new book is called War Made Invisible. What?

Dead Ukrainians and Russians Have Not Died in Vain, As Long As We Keep the Dying Going We are now coming up against this maddeningly irrational syndrome in Ukraine, on both sides of a war that may, in the end, kill all life on Earth so that those already killed in it should not have died in vain.

The Problem of Peaceful Societies for the Belief in the Necessity of War It is proven that human societies have existed and still exist without violence or war. The question is whether we will collectively choose that well-trodden path.

Dear Ukraine-Had-No-Choice Friends Ukraine and Russia both will have to admit wrongdoing and compromise if the war is to end. Even if they want to go on entertaining a delusion of blamelessness, they will have to do this. They will have to allow the people of Crimea and Donbas to decide their own fate. And then Ukraine and NATO and Raytheon could declare a victory for democracy with some actual basis for doing so.

Dear Russia-Had-No-Choice Friends Here's a terrible "syllogism" from a wonderful person, Ray McGovern, longtime CIA employee, then longtime peace activist, and now year-long contender that Russia had no choice but to attack Ukraine.

U.S. Military Insists on Destroying the Mountain Pastures of People in Montenegro Who Did Nothing to It The flowers are in bloom in the mountain pastures of Sinjajevina. And the U.S. military is on its way to trample them and practice destroying things. What did these beautiful sheep-herding families in this European mountain paradise do to the Pentagon?

At Least 32% of U.S. Mass Shooters Were Trained to Shoot by the U.S. Military There seem to me to be two key reasons that a sane communications system would not censor this topic.
