Trump might be leading the US to another meltdown The idea of working people making more money, and themselves, perhaps less, has zero appeal. The only thing left to do is change the rules. They know perfectly well they can enrich themselves selling rubbish. If they bring the house down, someone else will pay the cost. Hence, they push for deregulation which eventually will bring down the financial sector, as has happened before.

Crash Course In Economics watching the economic news is like being in a car that is sliding on ice, where time seems to slow down as you watch the crash happen-- time slowed while we slid forward and sideways, heading onto the shoulder, then past it "-. it seemed as if we had all the time in the world, yet there was nothing we could do to get off the ice, alter the trajectory, slow down "- nothing "- until we crashed.

Weird Tax Myths MYTH #1: Tax cuts create jobs. Tax increases cost jobs. All Republican politicians, and many Democratic ones as well, make the claim that tax increases will prevent small business people from hiring. Indeed, it may force them to fire people. Alright, we expect politicians to say loony things. But we have a right to expect reporters to break out in hysterical laughter, economists to... to say how ridiculous that is...

Neither Bolton, nor Trump is the real problem Bad as Bolton is, he is not the problem. Bad as Donald Trump, who brought him back, is, he's not the problem. The problem is "them" -- Republicans. Self-designated conservatives.

Drugs, guns, and despair: How America is killing Americans American life expectancy has declined. There's no foreign invasion. No war within its borders. No one to blame but ourselves. How then, is America killing Americans? Most reports point to three things: drugs and alcohol, guns, and despair.

Trump's trials and tribulations in 2019 In the last two years, the Republican majority has prevented any real investigations of Trump in Congress. In January, however, they'll be reduced to an impotent minority that can only whine and moan. Trump will do his best to hide behind the theory that a sitting president cannot be indicted. That will be challenged. Mueller, and everyone else, is moving up the chain.

Weird Tax Myths #2 -" Recessions, Depressens & Tax Policy Tax hikes end depressions & recessions by stimulating the economy. Tax cuts cause crashes & lower the GDP rate of increase. It's time to end this silly farce of Labor Day. It's time to end this silly farce of Labor Day. No one celebrates labor. I mean no one. The Myths and Harsh Effects of Bush's Economic Class War George Bush came into office. There was a recession almost immediately. Officially it began in March of 2001 and, officially, it ended eight months later. The causes of that recession are vague and amorphous, generally credited to the "business cycle."

Coming Out of the Republican Closet; Queer for Segregation One of the pillars of the contemporary Republican Party has been racism. They have made great efforts to mask it with euphemisms so that they can use code words to let anti-black voters know what side they're on and at the same time piously deny that they are being racist. Their code words have been that they are for 'states rights,' 'law and order,' 'welfare reform,' and against 'affirmative action,' 'quotas..."

Stupidity, Ignorance, Lies, Myths, Panic and Fear Bush went to Vietnam. Asked how that war compared to this war, he answered, "We'll succeed unless we quit." The failure to get serious about the history of the Vietnam war is part of what permits idiocies like this war. The great myth, clearly the myth that George Bush believes, is that the US lost the Vietnam war because liberals, Hollywood actresses, hippies and CBS News subverted our will to fight. That's not true.

Time for Tax Hikes US economic growth has been strongest when our taxes have been high. During World War II, then under Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy, our upper marginal tax rates were between 88-92%. Read those numbers again. They are astonishingly high. Those were our strongest growth years.

Profiles in Cowardice I called Senator Hillary Clinton's office to ask how she was going to vote on the Iraq supplemental appropriations bill without benchmarks. The staffer at the other end of the line said was studying the bill. The rest of the conversation went like this, and I swear on my parents' graves that it's true. Q: She voted for the war and now she doesn't want to vote to get out of it? Clinton's Staffer: Yes.

Give George Bush His War George Bush wants the war. He wants it to be his issue. Yes. Yes, please, let him have it. Let it be all his. The position to take is that it's not America's war at all. The issue is that it's George Bush's war. His own, personal, private obsession. So much so that he was scheming and plotting for years, even before 9/11, to have that war.

A secret dispatch from the war on stupidity The Senate is about to pass an intelligence bill that calls for spending $45,000,000,000,000 (forty-five billion dollars) a year – not just once, year after year – on intelligence. Bush is threatening to veto it because it has provisions that might let congress know what they're getting for $45,000,000,000,000 a year. He feels that only he should know. It's time to seriously rethink this whole 'intelligence' thing.

READY ON DAY ONE!!! In order to be READY ON DAY ONE, as both Hillary Clinton and John McCain claim they will be, you have to be ready a long time before that. You have to come in with a plan. You have to come with a good organization. You have to understand the issues and problems and have some ideas of how to deal with them. OBAMA is the only candidate who will be READY ON DAY ONE, as he is the only one dealing in reality.
