M. I. Bhat retired as Professor and Head, Department of Geology & Geophysics (which he founded in 2000), University of Kashmir. Earlier he served for 20 years as a scientist at one of Indian premier research labs, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehra Dun. Other than his research subject, international politics has always been his main attraction. He began writing on this and other topics since 2010. Unencumbered by any sort of "cake of custom,' he believes peace flows from justice, and justice should not entertain considerations other than "honest' facts.

America touts Israel as a liberal democracy in an ocean of bigoted Middle East but silently ignores the humiliation and discrimination that Israeli women are increasingly submitted to by the very political parties that share power at the Government level. If these are the "common values" America feels proud to share with Israel, God save the rest of the world.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has called for the Extra-ordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 14-15 August.
I believe of all the Muslim governments, Saudi government (as against their people), given its history, is the least entitled to talk about the set agenda; all it stands for is incompatible with the name and message of Islam and the concept and implications of the word Muslim Ummah.
