Donald Trump is not the leader I would have chosen to break up that moribund political/financial combine. But Trump it is, Mr. and Mrs. America, the man the majority of you chose to be our 45th President with his finger on the nuclear trigger.
SHARE Thursday, November 3, 2016 Trump's Racism and Misogyny Exploited Voters
To make any sense of the presidential election which concludes Tuesday, we must acknowledge that Donald J. Trump seized upon the fears and anger of voters and exploited them like the television con-man he is. Trump voters, not Trump himself, have understandable fears and angers. Trump preys upon those emotions by promising to be their savior.

Sanders said he and other senators "have started plotting legislation that would achieve many of the proposals that fueled his insurgent run for president, including a $15 federal minimum wage, tuition-free public college, an end to 'mass incarceration' and aggressive steps to fight climate change."

Trump has already signaled that he will not accept the election results. It appears almost certain now that he is laying plans for what would be a cult he will build around himself. His son is already talking about developing an independent Trump television network. Hillary Clinton's victory will not be a mandate; it will be a rejection of Trumpism

If Hillary is elected, she will have many opportunities to choose between the surface military option or following the deeper diplomatic option in both foreign and domestic battles. She will see this even more clearly once she is in the White House. It is reassuring that she understands the two-level decision-making of master politician Abraham Lincoln.

Obama had not given Netanyahu all he demanded in that $38 billion decade-long deal, angering the Israeli leader. As Obama must have expected, Bibi's retribution was swift.
Obama met with Netanyahu at Peres' funeral. Did Bibi assume it was inappropriate to discuss government business in a time of mourning? Don't count on it.

Who is responsible for this state of affairs? One prime suspect: A mainline media which wallows in the mud of profits from higher ratings and readership. Case in point: The mainline media pretended a "balance" in coverage which led to a downplaying of Trump's repeated fabrications, distortions and displays of ignorance. Trump had one major stumble over international agreements.

Israel was not getting the massive payout the U.S. media claimed, with stories that sent conservatives into ecstasy and progressives into apoplexy. Netanyahu was demanding a much larger annual gift, which his rich Daddy would not give him. The bigger blow lies in the exclusion of Israel's defense industries.

The agreement on Syria's cease-fire, reached last Friday, began under a cloud of opposition within the U.S. and Israeli governments. The plan would lead to American and Russian forces jointly targeting terrorist groups.

The election of 2016 has degenerated into a reality show designed to attract advertising sponsors, viewers, listeners and readers. The unexpected rise of Donald Trump entertained America in 2015 and 2016 with the encouragement of the media which profited from the reality show that is Donald Trump.

Presidential candidate debates will soon begin. One question that should come up, but will not, is this: Should the U.S. government continue a guaranteed increase of its current three billion dollars a year to the prosperous nation of Israel, even as Israel continues to oppresses half of the population under its control?

Nations that yield again and again to Israel's false narrative have stood by since 1947, looking the other way as Israel marches across Palestinian land, eliminating or constraining an entire indigenous population.
Turning the spotlight on Israel, we must see that Israel's hasbara is a classic con man tactic, deceiving the world by disguising their Palestinian occupation as essential to "security" for Israel, the occupiers.
SHARE Monday, August 15, 2016 In The Beginning Was Trump's False Birther Tweet
The polls, state by state, show that Trump is headed for a blowout defeat. In a normal campaign this would be a call for shift in strategy. Trump, however, is not running a normal campaign. Why won't he change? Trump wants to win. He is gambling that his twitter style campaigning could put him in the White House.
SHARE Wednesday, August 10, 2016 Trump Goes Off Script In Worst Possible Way
The response to Trump's outburst has been overwhelmingly negative. The implied threat against Clinton prompted a reaction from a Secret Service spokesman, who refused to identify himself, who said the agency was "aware of the comments." He did not elaborate. We have to assume that Trump will go off-script on many occasions, leaving surrogates to clean up behind him.

Progressives came close to entering this year's final bout behind Bernie Sanders. They lost, which means they must turn their zeal and energy toward building a successful progressive political party that will keep alive the ideals espoused by Sanders in his unsuccessful race against Hillary Clinton.

Reluctance to get behind the party nominee is not a new phenomenon in American politics. It is the story of democracy. Donald Trump's acceptance speech gave us more than enough reason to stay with the Establishment, as distasteful as four more years of neoliberal militarism will be. He not only gave voters a display of how tyranny is born, but in so doing, he has damaged the Republican Party as the preserver of conservative values. For some, "the party died" in the Cleveland convention.
