This article looks at the language used in reference to the resources we seek, accumulate, trade, borrow, and lend. This language reassigns responsibility from the traders to the things they trade, and in doing so, allows for the possibility that problems created by our current economic system are not human creations but rather are consequences of intrinsic qualities unique to the resources in question.
