India lost 26 of 65 patrolling points to China in disputed Ladakh India has lost its presence in 26 of the 65 Patrolling Points (PP) in Eastern Ladakh, which were patrolled regularly by the Indian forces, due to 'restrictive or no patrolling' by the forces, according to a research paper by a senior police officer, Indian Express reported Tuesday.

US averted nuclear war between India, Pakistan in 2019 says Pompeo India and Pakistan came close to a nuclear war in 2019 and Washington's intervention prevented an escalation, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reveals in his memoir published on Tuesday. This happened in February 2019 after New Delhi launched air raids inside Pakistani territory after blaming an armed group there for a suicide bombing that killed 41 Indian soldiers in disputed Kashmir region.

Russia negotiating with Taliban to procure U.S. arms in exchange for recognition Russia is planning to procure the U.S. weaponry left behind during the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal by the US Army in August 2021, according to Russian Telegram channel General SVR. Russian President Viladimir Putin has been in process of negotiating with Taliban to procure leftover arms to be used by Russian forces in the ongoing military offensive in Ukraine in exchange for recognizing the Taliban government.

Russia's oil supply deal with Pakistan in 'final stage' Russia has said it had reached "conceptual agreements" with Pakistan on the supply of crude oil and petroleum products, noting the two sides also agreed the payments will be made in "currencies of friendly countries," the Voice of America News reported.

Bankrupt Pakistan gets big jolt; World Bank delays $1.1 Billion loan amid economic mess Amid ongoing economic crisis, the World Bank has delayed the approval of two loans, worth $1.1 billion to Pakistan, Tribune reported Wednesday. The World Bank has decided to withhold approval of the second resilient institutions for sustainable economy (RISE-II) loan worth $450 million and the second program for affordable energy (PACE-II) worth $600 million.

Pakistan's strategic City Gwadar faces Chaos Pakistan's port city of Gwadar, the hub of the mammoth $62 billion infrastructure project known as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is in a siege-like situation amid unrest caused by a crackdown against protesting Balochs. The city faced a blackout of mobile and internet communications for almost a week. While the mobile networks have been restored, the internet has been shut down since December 28.

Pakistan, India exchange lists of nuclear facilities and prisoners as part of new year tradition Pakistan and India on Sunday exchanged the lists of nuclear sites and prisoners in each other's custody as part of various agreements in place between the two countries. According to the FO, the tradition of exchanging the nuclear installations and facilities list has existed since January 1992, whereas the first exchange of the prisoners' list took place in 2008.

China deploys over 70,000 troops, drones, on Ladakh front While the international media has focused attention on the escalating war in Ukraine, China has been strengthening its position in disputed Ladakh region, which witnessed a bloody confrontation in May 2020. According to Telegraph India, China has deployed over 70,000 troops along the frontier in eastern Ladakh and continues to build infrastructure inside India-claimed lines on the strategic Depsang Plains.

China, Saudi Arabia cement ties with strategic deals including Huawei Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi King Salman Ben Abdulaziz Thursday signed a series of strategic deals, including one involving Chinese tech giant Huawei. China rejects media reports it had seized territory from Nepal China has dismissed media reports that it had seized territory from Nepal as "completely unfounded" and "pure rumor". The Chinese foreign ministry's spokesperson Wang Wenbin was reacting to a report published by the UK Daily Telegraph quoting Nepalese politicians as saying that Beijing had surreptitiously annexed more than 150 hectares on the Nepal-Tibet border, on the Nepalese side.
