My name is Kenneth Sibbett and I've been writing all my life. While writing mostly fiction and short stories, I have written many, many articles concerning the welfare of this country and the currents events going on around the world. I was born in the early fifties, when we used to hide under our desks at school in drills in case we were attacked by Russia with nuclear weapons. We have come a long way since then.
We are now the premier power in the world and we are in reality the worlds policemen. We go everywhere that is of national security to this nation and and with two wars going on, and perhaps a third in Libya, everyone should be interested in whats going on in this world of good guys, bad guys, radical Islamic terrorism, and even our own homegrown terrorists.
I have been writing my own blog for the online magazine Salon for over two years. Under the name scanners blog on Open Salon,I risen to be one of the most popular writers on the site. For the last two years I have also contributed my time and my ideas to, an online site that finds and shares good journalism online, so we can make more informed decisions as citizens. We, as reviewers, read dozens of newspapers and magazines articles everyday, to find out the quality and separate fact from fiction. We promote good journalism, news literacy and civic engagement.
I am also a member and contibuting writer to OpEdNews. I've had some very well recieved articles that I have written for OpEdNews, which has some of the best writers in the country as members. I have a range of ideas for writing on events that are shaping this world. As many of you, I too have been effected by the downturn in our economy and have written extensively about this and the past administrations and their economic problems and proposed solutions. Please join me as I take you around the world with news and opinions that effect us, the everyday person. The everyday American. Thank You.

Steroids, Greenies, and Willie Mays Should Hank Aaron be in baseball's Hall of Fame? He played during the "Greenies Era", when pills that were nothing but amphetamines were passed around like candy. They improved performance and helped in rehabilitation, just as steroids do.

Ryan's Family Gets Rich, Vets and the Poor Get the Shaft While Rep. Ryan is talking about cutting benefits for returning veterans, and cutting out Medicare all together, he and his family are getting rich in bills that he voted for from Big Oil and farm subsidies. This is one of the biggest conflicts in recent memory. Dick Cheney and Halliburton come to mine! Just another politician that has no idea what it takes to run the military.

A "Do or Die" Speech for Obama? Some insight into the speech President Obama will give Wednesday night. If everything that has been written can be believed, it will be the entitlements that will take the major cuts, and again the poor will take the blunt of the cuts in Medicare and Medicaid programs. The right, as usual refuses to bulge on raising the taxes on the top two-percent of this nations rich. The poor can only hope that the cuts aren't too steep.

Paul Ryan's FlipFlop on the Budget Rep. Paul Ryan at one time, while working with the previous Bush administration, wanted to raise this nation's budget ceiling so Bush could cut the taxes on the top two-percent of the richest people in the country. Now, he wants to cut entitlements to the poor in the form of Medicare and Medicaid to the poor and elderly and hand all the decisions over to the states. This will be the biggest mistake since the invasion of Iraq!

Obama and Rising Gas Prices With the price of gas rising faster than at anytime in recent memory, President Obama is paying the cost in the recent polls. But congress is also bearing the blunt, with their ratings at 36% and falling. All this, while there is not a gas shortage. Speculators are making billions by artificially raising the price over the conflict in Libya that in no way affects America. It's all smoke and mirrors and it's killing us all.

Rich Sign Petition to Pay More Taxes There is a movement going on in this country by many of the millionaires who see this country is in trouble and want to pay a fair share in taxes. Over a 100 millionaires have signed a petition to be delivered to the president and the heads of the senate and congress. They have a simple message: I want to help my country and I want the IRS to change the laws so we can pay our fair share and help our country survive.

Hey.,You., Wanna Buy a Gun? The Far left, the far right, the middle (such as I), all have our opinions on guns and the right to have them, register them, and the guns or ammunition that people use in them. There will always be disagreements. But as with the Second Amendment, there is the 15th Amendment which is somehow being overlooked here. 90% of Americans are for this bill and 10% and a handful of idiot senators are for it. Something just isn't right.

Livin' in a Jerry Springer World Can Rick Perry win the presidency? Of course he can and he may be on his way to the White House. With Obama losing voters everyday that goes with bad job reports, hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Eating Not So High on the Hog The right, especially the teaparty morons beholding to Grover Norquist, have left town without fixing the economy and the oncoming Fiscal Cliff. It will be their undoing.

Finally Talking About Bringing Troops Home It seems it has taken the death of Osama Bin Laden to finally get politicians and journalists talking about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Before this week, if you wanted to read about the wars, you went to the back pages of the newspapers. The budget and the politicians arguing about it has taken the spotlight off of our brave soldiers. It's time we start another conversation. It's time to bring them home.

But now, in a district that has elected very few liberals in the last hunfred years, they have elected a democrat. Why you ask? One reason and one reason only. Rep. Paul Ryan's bill that will dismamtle Medicare and supposely give everyone a voucher. Democrats and conservatives both are up in arms.

No Pain Meds for the Poor in NYC? Billionaire Mayor Micheal Bloomberg has now given himself a doctorate in medicine, if you can believe how he is now cutting off all pain medicine for the poor in NYC. This is a travesty and needs to be stopped by Attorney General Eric Holder.

Obama, Off and Running With President Obama already announcing his plans for re-election, was his speech on the Budget Wednesday for everyone or just his base and independent voters.Rep. Ryan called it a campaign stunt in so many words. With fundraisers in Chicago followed by two more on the west coast and one more in New York, he is on his way to be the first presidential candidate in history to reach the one billion war dollar war chest!

Time to Let Pakistan Go! After ten years and twenty billion dollars, what has Pakistan done for the United States? As far as I can tell, nothing but harm. They had to know Osama Bin Laden was hiding for five years in a mansion right under their noses. They have let the Taliban train soldiers and cross over and kill Americans soldiers in Afghanistan, and then run back into Pakistan. it is time to re-assess our relationship with Pakistan!

Patting Down Babies~Bin Laden Wins Anyway All Americans are proud of our military for flying into Pakistan and killing Osama Bin Laden. I am glad the last face he seen was an American soldier. But, we have to get over the fear of a terrorist behind every tree and start living again.Yes, we need to be remain vigilant and we need to keep our eye on the ball. But patting down babies and little old women for bombs is just dumb. TSA agents need to us common sense, again!

Close it Down, Who Cares? The poor, the really poor who sleep in cars, stand in line at food banks and sleep any place they can lay their heads, are left out of all arguments concerning the budget battle in Congress. While everything in the budget that conservatives want cut directly effects them. Medicare, Medicaid and even talk of changing Social Security is balancing the budget on the backs of the poor.

Afghanistan, It Is Time to Leave With President Obama's speech Wednesday night, it is time to take a look at why we are still in Afghanistan and what our long-term objections are. We have been there for ten years, we have finally killed Bin Laden, in Pakistan, and we have broken the back of Al Qaeda in the area. What more can we do there? It is nothing but a money pit and we need to leave as soon as possible. We can do no more to help these people.

Kicking the Can on Budget Deal This nation again has punted on doing something about the tremendous deficit that is hanging over this country's head and effecting how we live. After scaring the people who depend of this government to live for weeks, the best they can do is come up with a Stop-Gap measure that will keep the government open until Thursday, when the real budget that itself lasts less than a year is written into law.We should all be ashamed.
