Death Penalty, War, Environmental Crisis -- the Root Cause is the Same So many activists, so little focus on root causes. So much energy going into finding someone to blame, so little going into doing the work that will bring about fundamental and lasting change.

Oil Addiction and Identity: Fundamentals of the Crisis and the Response Descrbes the importance of inner, psychological work in building a sustainable society. Uses the oil spill as an example but goes on to suggest that the psyche is at the root of the different crises we face -- environmental, social, economic --and must therefore be a foundation for truly sustainable alternatives.

Enough Already: Overcoming Crisis Mentality and Us verses Them Thinking Perpetually beating the drum of crisis and pending doom doesn't move us forward, especially if not followed by constructive ideas for where we go from here. And pointing to the enemy of the moment doesn't count as constructive.
