Neve Gordon is a Professor of International Law at Queen Mary University of London. He is also the author of Israel's Occupation and co-author of The Human Right to Dominate and Human Shields: A History of People in the Line of Fire.
During the first intifada, he was the director of Physicians for Human Rights - Israel. Gordon is the co-editor of Torture: Human Rights, Medical Ethics and the Case of Israel, the editor of From the Margins of Globalization: Critical Perspectives on Human Rights, and most recently the author of Israel's Occupation. His writings have appeared in numerous scholarly journals as well as in publications like The Washington Post, LA Times, The Guardian, The Nation, Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Chronicle of Higher Education and The National Catholic Reporter.

Israel's dissenting voices get lost in the war echo chamber Israeli politicians across the political spectrum appear to support the attack on Gaza. ...the left has organised several protests, fifty people here a hundred people there, and, while often this is how resistance begins, it is not clear how, within the current atmosphere, these sober voices will amount to anything. It is a time of deep despair for all those who envision a different and brighter future for this land.

Escape Route from the Nuclear Shadow over the Middle East To be sure, I am against Iran developing a nuclear weapon, but I am also opposed to Israel having a nuclear arsenal, which at 200 warheads would be larger than the arsenal of Britain. There is, after all, a connection between the two and this connection needs to be spelled out if a broader framework is to be adopted.

Perpetual Peace Boats appear in many of Nave's paintings, and seem to symbolize for him the possibility of change. In My Ego and Me, the haunting but surprisingly un-despairing figures are foregrounded by an empty boat with four white oars. When I asked Nave about the recurring boat imagery in his work, he said: "It could be a flight fantasy, or the condition of possibility of creating something new, or maybe both."

A headline in Yisrael Hayom declared, "Iran is Behind the Jihad's Rocket Attack." Hence, another objective was to show the Israeli public that Iran, by means of a proxy, had already begun attacking Israel.

Netanyahu and the one-state solution Netanyahu's not-so-implicit threat that Israel will continue its colonial project if the Palestinians do not accept some kind of "Bantustan solution" no longer carries any weight. The two peoples have already passed this juncture. The Palestinians have clearly declared that they will not bow down to such intimidations, and it is now clear that the conflict has reached an entirely new intersection.
