"All, all except Phineas, constructed at infinite cost to themselves this Maginot Line against this enemy they thought they saw across the frontier, this enemy that never attacked that way--if he ever attacked at all. If indeed he was the enemy."

Book Review: Mind at the End of Its Tether Book Review: Mind at the End of Its Tether. HG Wells was a formidable optimist who suddenly was driven to despair by human behavior and the inability to learn from history. REVIEW: The Waste Land: Dead Poet Sobriety Here is my follow-up to the essay I posted on TS Eliot a few week back. The Waste Land 100 years after its first publication in 1922. Does it still hold up as a great work or is it as passe as the 20th century itself? I dunno. Just thought I'd pose the question.

The Jury's In: The Magic of Small Lit Presses Lives On Review of chapbook by Kathleen McClung, A Juror Must Fold in on Herself. The 36-page, 15-poem (several poems have multiparts) collection tells of a juror's duties and sequestered life in hotel rooms, silent and bored, and yet, bracketed from her normal lifestyle, afforded a new glimpse on who she is and how she relates to others and the duties we have to keep a fragile system. Lots of forms on display. Excellent work.

We stand together, but like bewildered beasts, uncertain of our future and the direction we should go. God is Dead, so we can't go to that well. Guess it must be up to us.
