On a daily basis I am working as freelance independent investigative journalist. I am happy to be the Latvian patriot, born in Riga. I Have studied politics and journalism at the Latvian University. (2 comments) SHARE Friday, August 13, 2021 Putin will arrive in Minsk as the liberator of Belarusian people from Lukashenko's regime
When Aleksandr Lukashenko once again did everything to turn the presidential election into a farce and illegally declared himself the head of state, a lot of people - due to the ongoing wide protests - believed that it will not last long. I must admit, I had the same thought. However, Lukashenko with the aid of Vladimir Putin was able to hold on to power, including by ruthlessly suppressing peaceful protesters.

They say that having force means having power. Many people want to become physically powerful just so others would be afraid of them. Some do it to protect themselves and others, while some are simply interested in the health benefits. It's similar with some countries wanting to arm themselves. All this is very understandable, but what if being so-called "powerful" is essentially a delusion?
SHARE Wednesday, July 21, 2021 Putin is de facto tsar of Russia: church may proclaim him son of god
Many of you probably remember that a couple of years ago people wondered whether Vladimir Putin will once again run for president. We didn't get a definite answer for quite some time. On 10 March 2020, the Russian State Duma passed constitutional amendments allowing Putin to run for a new term in 2024. Putin himself didn't rule out the possibility of remaining president after the end of his term.
SHARE Wednesday, July 14, 2021 Putin's Russia's new national security strategy: barking and threatening
A country's national security strategy is a document outlining its future course of action, i.e. whether it will focus on defense, or the opposite - on offense. Of course, a security strategy is much more than just defense and offense.
SHARE Tuesday, July 13, 2021 What are the results of meeting between Biden and Putin?
On 6 June, many people turned their attention to Geneva where Joe Biden met with Vladimir Putin to improve relations between the US and Russia. The meeting will be analyzed and discussed for a long time - but it is most likely that we will never know everything both men discussed. Of course, a leak of information may happen, but we must always remember to ask the question - who benefits from such a leak - and then assess if th

They say that with patience and wit you can achieve anything. By adding a little impudence, you can achieve even more. Supplement the aforementioned qualities with money and it becomes only a matter of time until you're able to fulfill all of your dreams. This time we will talk about China, a backwards country that turned into one of the most influential nations in the world.

A lot of people try to propagate that Latvia is a failed state and that Russia is doing far better. However, the majority of people that voice such an opinion still choose to live in Latvia and not Putin's Russia. Bizarre, isn't it? But tastes differ and that's completely normal.

In normal countries, criminals are put in prison, while law-abiding citizens live freely. Things become much more interesting when a country decides to jail the majority of the public and pass laws that allow to put anyone in prison.
SHARE Friday, June 18, 2021 Belarus - de jure independent, de facto part of Russia
Lukashenko was recently once again sighted with Putin - this is the fourth time since the beginning of protests in August last year. I don't think there are any other presidents who meet this often. At least not equal presidents, because it's a lot different when the master summons his servant. Being a true boss, Putin welcomed Lukashenko on his luxury yacht Chaika .

It becomes clear that China subtly hinted that Russia is nearing collapse, as Russia possesses all of the characteristics China mentioned. There's no doubt that China wants to take Russia's place - it has already been partly able to do so, but Russia and Putin haven't yet noticed it.

Putin invaded Ukraine, but in order to make it not so blatantly obvious he called Russian troops "volunteers", dressed them in unmarked army uniforms and gave them weapons. Crimea was conquered, but in Donbass things didn't go as planned.
SHARE Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Russian intelligence services can't hold a candle to their Chinese counterparts
Recently, information has appeared in the media about the expulsion of Russian diplomats with ties to intelligence services. The reasons for this varied between countries - the US did so in response to Russia's cyberattacks and election meddling, while Czechia expelled diplomats due to their suspected involvement in an ammunition-depot explosion in 2014.

SHARE Thursday, March 25, 2021 Not letting go of power Putin style: lies propaganda and blood
Autumn this year will bring a great challenge to Vladimir Putin - State Duma elections are to be held on 19 September. At the moment, several signs indicate that this may be a turning point for Russians. You may ask: what do parliamentary elections have to do with Putin? Quite simple - one of the candidates is Putin's pocket party United Russia, and public support for this party must be viewed as support for Putin.
SHARE Tuesday, March 16, 2021 Sanctions against Putin's Russia: are they truly so inconsequential?
Fresh sanctions are about to be imposed against Putin's Russia, this time because of the Navalny case. If we look at it, there are now countless sanctions imposed against the country.
Already in 2017, Putin announced: "Russia will use these sanctions to mount a response - a response that will not damage Russia, but instead help us. We will stand by this principle in the future as well.

When two people are having an argument, there's always a third one who benefits from it. The argument between the European Commission (EC) and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca on the decreased supply of vaccines has revealed how complicated joint procurements can be, considering that many other countries want to acquire the vaccines and are willing to pay a higher price.

Putin's Russia reminds me of my schooldays. With this I mean the bully who thinks he is the center of the world and that everyone should obey him and speak his language.

In Russia, legislature is more intended to be an imitation of democracy, but in reality it accepts and obeys Putin's wishes. For instance, a draft law is being reviewed that would amend Russia's Criminal Code to punish (with a jail sentence of up to five years) those that falsify facts about World War II.
SHARE Friday, February 5, 2021 Navalny - Russia - Putin
After Aleksey Navalny was detained on Sunday immediately after arriving in Russia from Berlin, where he was treated for Novichok poisoning, leaders of the US and the EU demanded that he be released at once. Navalny's lawyers were able to meet their client only 15 hours after his detainment, while the trial was held right there at the detention facility and featured a single judge, instead of the usual three.
