Richard Vaczy was graduated in 1981 from the School of Theater, Film and Television at the University of California at Los Angeles, preparing him for a fruitful and lengthy career as a writer, producer and showrunner of multiple successful network sitcoms in Hollywood. For that work, he has been nominated for three Golden Globes and two Emmy Awards, and he has won both a People's Choice Award and an NAACP Image Award. Having written and/or produced some 350 episodes of American network TV, he counts as highlights 104 episodes of NBC's "The Golden Girls" (now considered a sitcom classic), "Married"with Children" (for Fox TV), "Clueless" (ABC) and 15 pilot scripts written for virtually every major American network and studio. In 2006, Richard began working closely with Sony Pictures Television International, adapting American sitcoms to local markets in Madrid, Budapest, Warsaw, and Moscow (where he lived and worked for six years). Richard discovered his affection for collaborating internationally on assignment in London for HBO in 2004, developing concepts that could air in both Great Britain and America concurrently. Shows he has substantially contributed to in Russia include "My Fair Nanny" (based on the American series "The Nanny"), "The Voronins" ("Everybody Loves Raymond"), and "Schastlivy Vmeste" ("Married With Children"). Richard was featured in the documentary "Exporting Raymond," an account of the making of "The Voronins." The film was theatrically released in America, later broadcast by HBO.
