The Gun Problem: From What the 2nd Amend. Really Says through Who the Enemy of Gun Safety Really Is to Some Thoughts on As long as the Repubs. have their trigger fingers on at least one branch of the Federal government, nothing happens in terms of dealing with gun violence. There are several new points that can be made in regard of both why the Repubs. do this and what could actually be done about the problem, of mass shootings, at least. That's what this column is about.

Trump, the Evangelical Republican Right (ERR), and "God" The Evangelical Republican Right --- ERR(C) --- tells us that "God" has chosen Trump as President. This column discusses that proposition --- in some depth.

"Marbury v. Madison" and its Constitutionality --- Revisited On several occasions previously I have published an excerpt from my 1996 "future history" book, "The 15% Solution," which presents a fascist government's Supreme Court decision overturning the famous "Marbury v. Madison" decision, which had established the Court's review powers of decisions of the other two branches of the Federal govt. In light of the recent highly controversial Court decisions, I offer it again here.

It's Not About the Wall The "Wall" is not about a Wall along the Mexican-U.S. border per se. It's all about a) political symbolism for Trump and the Trumpites and b) the means, through the "national emergency," to intensify Trump's drive towards effective dictatorship.

The Trump 'Witch-hunt' and the Real Thing(s)" Donald Trump never gets tired of telling us that the Mueller Report process and publication, the constant stream of investigative journalism revealing everything from possible crimes by Trump and Friends to the many oh-so-non-Presidential acts by same, and of course the current Impeachment Inquiry, are nothing more than a "Witch Hunt." This column describes what Witch Hunts, of the religious and political kind, really were.

The Criminalization of Thought on "When Life Begins" The Georgia Legislature recently passed a law that criminalizes abortion in the state, as well as for any Georgia woman who travels outside of the state to obtain an abortion. This column first summarizes the law's provisions and then presents a section from a 1996 book of mine about a then-fictional future fascist U.S., in which just such a program is implemented, by Constitutional amendment. Can't happen here? Already is.

The U.S. Ruling Class and the Onset of Republo-Fascism; with a Lesson from the 'Anschluss' of 1938 The "Anschluss," the joining of Austria to Nazi Germany in March, 1938, resulted from an invasion by the Nazis. It was part of a series of aggressive actions at home and abroad that had begun back in 1933, after the approval of the Nazi regime was provided to it by cream of the German ruling class. A recent book on the Anschluss dramatizes the meeting at which that approval was granted. It has lessons for us in the U. S.

Advice to Bernie: Always Attack, Never Defend This column contains some advice for Bernie, both for the primaries and for the general election. I doubt that it will ever get to his campaign staff, and if it does, the chances that it will be read are low. But I have had fun putting it together anyway.

Trump: The Accidental Fascist: The Force of Personality Fascism is a form of government developed in the 20th century designed to maintain control over State Power for a capitalist ruling class, when that control through the means of monarchical or constitutional democracy is threatened. The fascists who have come to power knew what they were doing and on their way to power planned what they were going to do with it when they got there. Trump is what I call an "Accidental Fascist."

Political Homophobia: Russia, America, and Germany Russia now has a national law that bans the spreading of "information about non-traditional sexual behavior" to persons under 18. The law is based on legislation that was originally adopted in St. Petersburg under the sponsorship of its Mayor, one Vitaly Milonov. The law is of course based on totally false premises about "recruitment," etc. This is classic political homophobia. Which is what this column is about.

The Republo-Fascist Party: The Role of the U.S. Ruling Class This column discusses the movement of the developing Republo-fascist Party (to which I have referred in the past as the "Trumpublican Party") further to the Right, indeed in the direction of classical fascism, and then further discussing the role of the U.S. ruling class, which is splitting over which direction --- fascism or liberal democracy --- is best for maintaining both its profitability and control over State Power.

Israel-Palestine: Trumped, Part 1: Why the Israeli Right Will Never Negotiate Trump's Jerusalem decision has put Israel-Palestinian peace talks on hold indefinitely. But that suits the Israeli Right, led now by Netanyahu and Likud, just fine. And it always has.

History's Greatest Con Man tries his Biggest Con, Ever, and Adds a 7th "'Magic Trick" This column A) builds on my assertion that Trump is History's Greatest con man, and B) attempts to prove that the "Stolen Election" shtick is Trump's great trick. He knows he lost but knows what he must do to A) remain in the public eye, B) retain political control of the Republican Party, and C) raise money, lots of it. The column also adds a "7th Trick, the "Oh woe is me; everyone's against me" one. What a combo. What a con.

On the Brink of Fascism in the U.S.: The Role of the Ruling Class, Part 1 As the legal and political walls close around him,Trump moves closer to establishing a 21st cent. version of fascism. But the political-economic system we know as fascism does not arrive out of history by itself. It is put in place by a capitalist ruling class that feels its political control slipping. This column is the first of a two-parter on how fascism might come to the U.S., courtesy of a wing of the U.S. ruling class.

Trump Indicated (Ooops, I mean Indicted)" Joining the many others who are is doing it, here I comment on the indictments. I consider that: the indictments are for a variety of felonies; Weisselberg, Pecker and Clifford all came in just before they were issued and may have presented critical new evidence; since the indictments are for felonies, Trump's passport could lifted; Trump is broadly using his "7 Magic Tricks"; and Repub. commentators never say "he's innocent!"

Revisiting "9/11" on its 15th Anniversary, in the Context of the Reichstag Fire It is not simply about the invasion of individual rights, but also the end of "checks and balances" -- the bypassing of the independent judiciary, the legislature, and the substitution of rule by Presidential Decree. What better than a grand "terrorist" event, like the destruction of the WTC? Or, in Berlin of 1933, the destruction of the Reichstag?

The Repubs., the Religious Right, and the Criminalization of Religious Belief With a great flourish, the Dominionist Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz introduced his "First Amendment Defense Act" into the new Congress. His stated purpose is to protect the "freedom of religion" for persons who would like to prevent the Federal government from "retaliating against businesses or people who refuse service to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals."
