II. It concerns a further consideration of the English Constitution and how various monarchs have violated it from time-to-time, a brief, highly focused critique of the British Empire from an OpEdNews column published by one friend, and some comments of life in England and English cars from another. Thursday, September 15, 2022On the Passing of Queen Elizabeth, II: Some lighter thoughts (for the most part) For the most part, this column does not deal with the many serious and negative elements of the the British Empire which this monarch represented. Rather, until its ending, the column is about some personal recollections of London and some interesting (to me at any rate) bits on UK history. At the end it treats of the very serious story about how this young lady actually came to be Queen: a not pretty historical accident.

Thursday, September 8, 2022A Revisit with "The Origin of the Self-Destructive Species (with apologies to Charles Darwin)" This column re-visits a column I published back in 2014 concerning two apparently unique characteristics of the species Homo Sapiens: it members are dependent for their existence on the conversion of elements found in the environment into various goods and services, and in my view, because of that necessity, which led to private ownership of the conversion processes, led then to ours becoming the only self-destructive species.

Thursday, September 1, 2022On NY Mets Old-Timers Day; First, Some Personal Baseball Fan History This column is about baseball and me, and the New York Giants and the New York Mets, about the greatest Giant of all time, Willie Mays, and the Mets' Old Timers Day celebration watched with my son, Jacob, with whom I had seen so many Mets' games over the years, live and on television. To this very day, we watch Mets games "together" over-the-phone (he lives in another state), when they are broadcast on national television.

Thursday, August 25, 2022History's Greatest Con Man tries his Biggest Con, Ever, and Adds a 7th "'Magic Trick" This column A) builds on my assertion that Trump is History's Greatest con man, and B) attempts to prove that the "Stolen Election" shtick is Trump's great trick. He knows he lost but knows what he must do to A) remain in the public eye, B) retain political control of the Republican Party, and C) raise money, lots of it. The column also adds a "7th Trick, the "Oh woe is me; everyone's against me" one. What a combo. What a con.

Friday, August 19, 2022The CDC and COVID-19: Trumpian Politics and Policies Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director of the CDC has issued a statement of the performance of the CDC. both in re the COVID-19 pandemic and the functioning of the agency in general. Neither the words "Trump" nor "previous Administration" appear in her statement. This column begins to address that omission by republishing my very first column on "Trump and COVID." It's no surprise, I'm sure, to learn that there will be more to come.

The Republo-fascist Party and its CPAC mouthpiece, and the Hungarian dictator Viktor Orban, have a very close affinity for one another. The thesis presented in this column is that this affinity is not an accidental occurrence. Rather its origins stem about 100 years back, to the origins of the world's first fascist dictatorship, under Admiral Miklos Horthy, from which in my view, the Orban regime is directly descended.

I have previously written on "The Six Magic Tricks" on which Trump has relied to get him through life, through all of his failed deals with no long-term injuries, all the way to the Presidency. But in the current crisis for him (and for him it is a crisis) I do not think that the Tricks will work and that he will go down. This column explains why I have come to that conclusion.

Thursday, July 21, 2022Teaching 'Both Sides' --- in Ohio Republicans in the Ohio State Legislature are proposing to mandate a "two sides" approach to the teaching of history in the public high schools. There has been a good deal of negative response to this proposal. Here I suggest that it might not be such a bad idea after all, depending of course upon what subjects are chosen for consideration, beginning with the "two sides" of legislative interference in public school curriculae.

Once again, the Repubs. will refuse to do anything on the issue, other than calling for "thoughts and prayers" or dealing with "mental health issues" (about which Repubs. do next-to-nothing either). I present here a new consideration: that that period should be referred to as the Second Civil War, won by the South and its ideological successor, what I call the "Republo-fascist Party." This column then projects that the U.S. is now entering the "Third Civil War," over female autonomy.

Wade." Any state that wants to can criminalize abortion. In my 1996 fictional future history book "The 15% Solution," a Republican-Christian-Alliance Party in 2005 amends the Constitution to, among other things, illegalize abortion.
