Trump in Trouble: Circling the Wagons. Why now?" Trump has been in trouble ever since the FBI began looking into possible ties between his campaign and Russian interests in the summer of 2016. We all know the gathering storm of evidence of cooperation or attempted cooperation between the Campaign and Russian interests. (Other crimes, like money-laundering and obstruct. of justice could be on his legal agenda as well.) But what's going to get him? Why the Repub. ruling class.

Retrospective No. 3: "Why the Current Israeli Government Will Not Negotiate (Seriously)" In the light of the current outrages committed by Trump (the embassy relocation/provocation) and Netanyahu (the Gaza massacres), it seems to me appropriate to republish a column that I first posted on The Greanville Post in 2011.

The Serialization of The 15% Solution (6): Chapter 1 This is the 6th installment of the current serialization of my book, originally published in 1996, The 15% Solution: How the Republican Religious Right Took Control of the U.S., 1981-2022 (click here). It consists of Chap. 1: Is the Stage Being Set for Fascism?

Trump Welshes on the 'Iran Deal.' Why?" Trump's foreign policy often seems governed by what he said on the campaign trail. There was even less thinking-through-of-a-problem and coming-up-with-some-rational-solution to it than there is in his Administration. And so, one of Trumps' repeated ringing statements, which he applied liberally to just about any Obama-Administration initiative he could bring into play, over-and-over again, was what a terrible Deal it was.

The Big Blue Wave? Not So Fast As the Trump Presidency seems to be sliding into the mud in the real world (although not in the Alternative Reality of Right-Wing TV and talk radio) and Republican policies (or lack thereof, e.g. the "massive infrastructure program") are becoming increasingly unpopular, there is much talk of a "Blue Wave" coming in the 2018 Congressional elections. But then again, maybe not. And here's one reason possibly why not.

Retrospective No. 2: "The Cometization of the 2016 Elections: The Role of the Ruling Class" This is the second in an occasional series that I will be running of past columns that I published both on OpEdNews and other sites, that bear relevance to current events. There will be very slight, if any, editing, and contemporaneous notes in [ ]. The "current event" to which this column realities is, of course, Jim Comey's book A Higher Loyalty and his subsequent far-ranging book tour interviews.

Retrospective No. 1: "I'm Shocked, Shocked (about the Libby Commutation), Not" This is the first in an occasional series that I will be running of columns that I published both on OpEdNews and other sites, that bear relevance to current events. There will be very slight, if any, editing, and contemporaneous notes in [ ].I wrote this one, in 2007, on the commutation by Pres. George W. Bush of the sentence that Scooter Libby received for lying and obstruction of Justice in the Valerie Plame case.

The Serialization (5) of The 15% Solution: Author's (SJ) Preface: Part 3 Being the continuation of Preface to the book in my, Steven Jonas', voice, Part 1 of which was published on OpEdNews on March 8, 2018, and Part 2 of which was published on March 20, 2018. This is the last installment of this very lengthy Preface. Readers may recall that this Preface is written in my, Steven Jonas', voice. The balance of the book written in the voice of the putative author, "Jonathan Westminster."

Trumpite Functional Fascism: On the March I have previously described Trumpite 21st century "functional fascism." Now, Trump is moving to add two traditional features of 20th century fascism: a government of yes-men and a steady involvement in foreign wars. That's what this coumn is about.

The Serialization (4) of The 15% Solution: Author's (SJ) Preface: Part 2 Being the continuation of Preface to the book in my, Steven Jonas', voice, Part 1 of which was published on OpEdNews on March 8, 2018. This Preface, was written for the current, third version of the book published in 2013. The Preface is quite long and is in this series be published in three parts. Indeed, it should have been published before the second installment, which was the book's Chapter One.

The Serialization (3) of The 15% Solution: Author's Preface: Part 1 This Preface, written for the current, third version of the book published in 2013, is in my voice, that of Steven Jonas, the book's real author. The Preface is quite long and will in this series be published in three parts. Indeed, it should have been published before the previous installment, which was the book's Chapter One, written in the voice of the fictional author, Jonathan Westminster. Please forgive the mistake.

The Centrality of Carter Page and the Trump/Russia Connection Carter Page's name doesn't come up much in the mainstream media's coverage of Trump/Russia and the Mueller investigation. Yet Sean Hannity and others on the Right go out of their way to try to discredit in advance any findings on him, based on their falsification of the basis of the "FISA warrant." This column is about just why they would be doing that.

Short Takes 1: On Trump-stuff and the Florida Shooting/Gun Control With this column I am beginning an occasional series of what I will call "Short Takes." That is, instead of a lengthy column on a single theme, I will be offering a series of thoughts, briefly stated, on a variety of themes. In length, they will more often than not be like Tweets, but fully spelled out, which Tweets by myself and others often are not.

Announcing the Serialization, Continued, of: The 15% Solution: How the Repub. Religious Right Took Control of the U.S.: I first began this Serialization, for OpEdNews, of my book "The 15% Solution: How the Republican Religious Right Took Control of the U.S., 1981-2022: A Futuristic Novel," just about a year ago. I got through Chapter 6, Part 1 of the series. Then for a variety of reasons I brought a halt to the project. Now I am re-starting it, from the beginning, with the full intention of seeing through to the end, sometime in 2019.

21st Century Trumpite Fascism, the Previously Published Parts 1-4, Plus a New Introduction In my view, the United States is on the cusp of going beyond functional fascism to the real thing, now. It remains to be seen who will come to the defense of the bourgeois democracy now governing the US. It is a full-blown fascism, of the 21st century variety, that the Trumpites would very much like to impose on the US. Here I am re-publishing, with a new Introduction, my recent four-part series on the Trumpites and Fascism.

"Trump-Russia:" Qui Bono?" "Trump-Russia." A) I think that it's real and B) the primary beneficiaries of it, at least up to now, have been the Trump/Repub./Fascists. For while the media is so focused on the investigation and its ramifications, the Rightists have been able to push forward with their agenda, full steam ahead.

Functional Fascism. It contains some thoughts both on policy and practice that can be employed in the massive battle currently underway to rid our nation of its totally malign presence.
