Machiavelli on Powers of Religion in Civic Affairs and on Freedom and Corruption (Reflections on Electoral College Day) How fitting that this section of the longer series is posted on the day of the Electoral College vote! Machiavelli's Discourses on Religion in Civic Affairs and on Freedom vs. Corruption are deeply compelling today. Hopefully, his insights might help many to comprehend the swift and sweeping changes that are in store in the near future. When it is necessary to maintain unity in the nation, the leader must be able to use excessive force, brutality, and break laws to persevere order.
