Eating Turkey is the Most Un-American Thing to do on Thanksgiving Our values on animal cruelty are quite paradoxical. We are outraged by dog meat markets. Yet we routinely turn a blind eye to the inhumane treatment of animals in our slaughterhouses. The most revered values of America are compassion, freedom and justice. Forcing 45 million turkeys to live a cruel life and die a cruel death is Un-American.

Our Reaction to Harambe's Death Reflects Our Intolerance The recent shooting of Harambe the gorilla continues to hog the social media. Unfortunately in the eyes of many, although Harambe is a sentient being like all of us, his life is worth nothing. In this article, I argue that those who disparage Harambe's death are unwittingly perpetuating the mentality that discriminates "those" who are different from "us", the mentality that perpetuates racism.
