Climate Denial In light of recent information that Exxon scientists had concluded in the late 1970s that continuing to burn fossil fuels would likely cause catastrophic events endangering humanity, it is interesting to look at some main arguments used today by climate deniers - arguments that have been spread primarily by ExxonMobil. Climate Economists: Global warming will create "an environment so hostile... Yale's William Nordhaus, long considered the leading climate economist, was complacent about climate change, advising policy-makers not to spend much on it. But in 2006, the Stern Report, based (unlike Nordhaus) on recent climate science, initiated a new era. Regarding climate change as an extreme threat to economic well-being, Stern said that the economic benefits of strong and early action would greatly outweigh the costs.

Should Climate Scientists Tell the Full Truth? A year ago, glaciologist Jason Box tweeted that, if much of the methane on the floor of the Arctic is released into the atmosphere, "we're f'd." The tweet went viral and evoked much discussion. This article discusses a question raised by a recent Esquire article featuring Box, namely, just how fully should climate science tell the truth about the risk to civilization.

Mobilization to Save Civilization Lester Brown and many others have said that, to prevent global warming from destroying civilization, we need a national and worldwide mobilization like that of WW II, but even more extensive.
