Did you know that none of America's problems was George W. Bush's fault? He just happened to be President when they occurred, and he handled them the best he could (and a darn fine job he did too--even if he had to say so himself). Bush disciples appear to believe that history will exonerate their fearless leader. It won't--unless we allow them to rewrite it.

The Bush Administration is planning a series of rigged show-trials at Guantanamo Prison in time for the November elections. No matter what they are accused of, defendants deserve a fair trial in the American tradition.. The American people should be ashamed that we have allowed the Bush Administration to torture prisoners and deny them a fair trial for so long.

• "Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience "Our problem is that people are obedient allover the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves" (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem."-- from The Zinn Reader, Seven Stories Press, 1970

The impeachment of George W. Bush and his co-conspirators is a matter of principle that Congress can no longer ignore. The United States of America was founded on principles. Our adherence to the rule of law and our respect for human rights were what set us apart from other nations of the world--up until now. If there was ever a President who needed to be impeached, it is George W. Bush.

It is clear that Bill O'Reilly is no longer a newsman. He is now a highly paid salesman, working for the same corporations that employ George W. Bush. Their primary product is War. Bill's job is to sell it to the American public, and he's already working toward his next big sale: War on Iran

Presidential hopeful John McCain was quick to jump on the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" bandwagon. The problem is that the whole thing is a lie, and is no more that one more gift to the oil industry. More drilling will not reduce your gas prices.

The American people have relegated the Republican party to minority status and elected Democrat Barack Obama to take the nation in a new direction. Now, we can wait and watch as the Republicans block the changes we want to see, and while the media shifts the blame for the failures of the Bush years onto President Obama--or we can get involved and help our new President make the changes America needs.

What happened to young Senator from Illinois that spoke our against invading Iraq? Now--rather than ending Mr. Bush's dumb wars as quickly as possible, President Obama plans to escalate Bush's war on Afghanistan ("the graveyard of empires") and expand it into Pakistan. The cause may be just, but will sending more troops to Afghanistan accomplish any of his stated goals?

The Bush Administration is not interested in peace with Iran--any more than they wanted peace with Iraq. The neoconservative masterminds in the Bush Administration have marked Iran for regime change, and the plan is moving forward. It is up to Congress to stop them.

We have to do something different in Illinois. We cannot allow the politicians in Springfield to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome. That is one of the popular definitions of insanity.
Illinois need to have a graduated income tax--rather than the regressive one it has now.
It is time to stop the insanity.

From what we have heard from Senator McCain on the campaign trail so far, he needs someone like Condi.
