It is now acceptable to talk about election fraud in "polite company." Those who run for office to serve or care about the process of elections, despite their disappointment in the system, will have their day on November 6. Why wouldn't the immensely greedy try to steal elections? They've stolen everything else.

(8 comments) SHARE McCain took a "bridge to nowhere" thinking it was the path to his salvation. Given his total abandonment of any degree of consistency and civility in this campaign, it's hard to have much sympathy. Palin was a bad move no matter how hard the Orwellian faction spins it.

WASHINGTON - Placed in office through legalized bribery, supported by public funding for their every need, protected against the laws that we're expected to obey, Congress represents the epitome of lawlessness; lawmakers who have no regard for the law.

Here we go again. Macedonia did a deal with Russia for a gas pipeline and now faces the "democracy" beat down. We hear the leader is a crook, tens of thousands demonstrate, and Macedonia abandons "European values." It's Libya, Syria, and Ukraine all over again.

(26 comments) SHARE There's a rational, reasonably immediate solution to a good part of the economic disaster. The banks won't like it but you will. But first the sad facts about the human costs of our economic disaster.

Turkish PM Erdogan went to the site of Turkey's largest mining disaster ever and dismissed the dead and disrespected their friends and families. How much longer can this tyrant run a major country.

The NATO-Saudi sponsored Free Syrian Army is attacking Christians in a systematic way. What were the president and Congress thinking about when they authorized aid to the rebels knowing this would happen?

(16 comments) SHARE The display of flagrant distortions and lies at the Republican National Convention shows how close we are to a Soviet style totalitarian state. Lies are presented as truth, war is said to bring peace, and oligarchy, we are told, benefits the common man. We are dangerously close to a day when the complicity of both parties in a rigid national security state becomes a reality.
(10 comments) SHARE How did we get to the point of full body scans at airports, the massive personal intrusion that represents, and the tens of millions spent for machines that irradiate us as a consequence of merely flying from here to there?

What happens in Ukraine should be none of our business, with one exception. The administration and Congress are repeating the same failed strategies of the past - focus on foreign adventures while people suffer in a terrible economy and the world is reduced to rubble.

Imagine a decisive victory in Syria. Then imagine it's the government the U.S., NATO, and Gulf oligarchs told to leave the country. That's a real possiblity and there's little to nothing the Obama administration can do about it.

Why are we seriously beefing up security all along the Canadian border? Has Canada suddenly become a hotbed of virulent anti-American activity? Are the Mounties and other law enforcement agencies in Canada turning a blind eye to known threats? Are we expected to believe that the nation that turned down a featured role in the coalition of the willing has suddenly become lax on enforcing international law?

(26 comments) SHARE We don't have enough dollars. It was the banks versus the people and we just lost. The theory is that without these payments, the banks will fail and we'll all be in a world of trouble without them. All of this depends on the questionable assumption that by saving the banks, we're saving our economy.

Murdoch's head of Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal, Les Hinton, is up to his waist in the UK phone jacking scandal. He has some serious explaining to do. The little credibility left for Murdoch is tied to the Journal and DJ. It may evaporate soon when Hinton is called to task for his role in the sordid affair.
