How Progressives Can Move Obama to the Left Does he mean well or does he have bad intentions? Come on, don't be ridiculous. Of course, he means well. But in his own mind, George Bush thought he meant well, too (for the most part). I'm positive that Obama thinks that he is doing the best he can to bring about as much change as he can within the limits of this system.

Four Reasons Why the Public Health Care Option is Irrefutable [W]hat drives me crazy is that after paying more than any other country in the world, we get the 37th best coverage. That's unacceptable. We need to change this system. It must be the public option or bust. There will be many things to negotiate in the final bill, but this cannot be one of them. Otherwise, there will be no real reform.

Condi Rice Pulls A Nixon: When the President Does It, That Means It is Not Illegal Is there some sort of mutated virus passed from president to president that causes them to believe that they and their chosen ones are above the law and the US Constitution?

How the Toxic Asset Plan Will Magically Make Your Money Disappear Under the Treasury Department's toxic asset proposal, the government puts in 85% of the investment in these assets through a loan given by the FDIC. The Treasury puts in another 7.5% of the money and the private investor contributes the final 7.5%. This is a guaranteed way of transferring money from the American taxpayer to the private investors.

Have We Reached the Tipping Point on Guns? How many shootings do there have to be in the news before we wonder about the wisdom of allowing just about anyone to get a gun in America?

Why is No One Calling the Anthrax Suspect a Terrorist? If you don't believe that they're not calling him a terrorist because he's white, let me ask you this question - what if his name was Sheik al-Abdullah Muhammad?

Why McCain Has Caught Obama and What Obama Can Do About It 2 reasons why John McCain has caught Barack Obama in the national polls. 1) McCain has changed the whole conversation about this election into one question - do you want to vote for or against Obama? This is genius. Obama needs to switch the conversation if he wants to win. 2) Obama has only played defense so far and has not attacked at all. This is weakness and a sure-fire way to lose an election.

Why is General Petraeus Helping Iran? Yet, no one has helped Iran more inside Iraq than he has. We have lent the full force of our military might to the political faction and Shiite militia most closely associated with Iran.

ush Insiders Describe How This Administration Starts Wars Iran had basically surrendered to us in 2003 -- and we refused their offer of turning in all of their terrorist allies and completely stopping their nuclear program. If we actually cared about ending terrorism or their nuclear ambitions, we would have jumped all over this deal. But that is not what Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld cared about.

Why Do You Need Immunity If You Haven't Broken the Law? The Bush administration is desperately trying to get immunity for the telecom companies inserted into the next wiretapping bill. But let me ask a simple question - why would the telecom companies need immunity if they didn't break the law? I'm not trying to be clever here. I'm asking a literal question. Isn't this an obvious admission that the administration did ask the large telecommunication companies to break the law ?

How the New Media Works In the old days, you needed authority figures to sort out the news for you and tell you what was important and weed out the riff-raff. But these aren't the old days. I have a mind of my own. I don't need to borrow a news anchor's. And if I were to borrow one, that's not the first place I would look In the new media, news is broken down into three subsets. 1- the collectors 2-the agggregators 3-the interpreters

The Soft Underbelly of the Democratic Party Here we go again. I was going to write a nice, fun piece about Matt Damon on a lovely Sunday afternoon when the Democrats went and ruined everything, as usual. From time to time, I am told that I am too hard on the Democrats. It is not possible to be too hard on these vacillating, spineless, rudderless, clueless clowns.

Democrats Should Force the Republicans to Physically Filibuster Remember Mr. Smith Goes to Washington? When Jimmy Stewart had to stand and keep talking until he passed out. Ah, the good old days of filibustering. Well, I think the Democrats should bring that back.

The Republicans Lost Iraq Let's get this straight - once and for all. It was a Republican president, a Republican administration, a Republican Senate, a Republican House and entirely Republican government that started and lost the war in Iraq. No excuses. They screwed this thing up entirely. It is 100% their fault. Now that we have lost in Iraq, I think the country would be better off listening to the Democrats on how to extricate us from this mess.
