Federico Moramarco is Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University where he taught English and Creative Writing for many years. He is the founding Editor of Poetry International, and his books include "The Poetry of Men's Lives," "Men of Our Time," "Containing Multitudes: Poetry in the US since 1950," and "Modern American Poetry." Recently he has co-authored (with his son Stephen) "Italian Pride: 101 Reasons to be Proud You're Italian," and a cookbook, "Deliciously Italian." His poetry and criticism has appeared in many periodicals and anthologies including The Nation, American Poetry Review, The Literary Review, Poetry East, The Hawaii Review, The Connecticut Review and many others. He is also the Artistic Director of Laterthanever Productions, a non profit theatrical company he established in 2003.

Another Way to Look at the Sanford Affair Why are we continually outraged about politicians' infidelity when there are so many different marital arrangements in America and infidelity as as American as Apple Pie? That is, it's built into the repressions of human nature that come with monogamy, so let's not be so hypocritical about it and insist that everyone follow the straight and narrow path. In the course of a lifetime, many individuals have many sexual partners.

Every Death Diminishes Me Recently we've been drowning in the news of celebrity deaths: Fawcett, Jackson, Cronkite, and others. The media presents us with long multi-day eulogies and broadcasts funerals live. What is this heightened consciousness of death doing to our psyches?

Is Democratic Debate Any Longer Possible? Instead of democratically debating issues these days, we've essentially followed the lead of Cable TV and talk radio and demonize those who oppose our views, whatever they are. Our political discourse has been Limbaughed and Coulterized.

The health care debate has been dominated by economic issues, when we should be raising moral issues. Is it moral to profit off of the sick?
