"In Guns We Trust": New Supreme Court Motto for U.S. It is the handgun that makes so many white males feel impregnable, as if they were riding around with a turret gun in a Hummer. It's a vestige of the Confederacy; "I'm a white man and that allows me to do whatever I want and get away with it, so don't mess with me." It's not about the Constitution; it's about a hormonal psychology under siege.

Pat Buchanan and the Long Goodbye The psyche of the white male yearning for the patriarchal hierarachy was reassured by Bush as president -- who proved that any idiot white male could rise to the top of the pyramid, even if his strings were being pulled by two other white males: Cheney and Rove.

Isn't It Ironic Orly Taitz, "Birther" Leader, is Foreign Born and Raised Making Lunatic Claim Obama Wasn't Born in U.S.? The birther movement is full of malcontents--anti-Semites, skinheads, political malcontents, white firsters, and a radical right wing Jew--in the case of Taitz, I speculate--who fears for Israel (in Netanyahu paranoid style) under Obama. The birthers are a group of psychos who would be shooting each other if they didn't share a common hatred of Obama and the fear of America becoming a nation where whites are in the minority.

From the 1953 CIA Overthrow of Iran Democracy, to the Iraq War, to the Criminal Gulf Disaster and Deaths, BP Was There For more than a century, we -- citizens of a nation founded on democratic principles of citizens deciding their nation's destiny -- have been nothing but pawns in the war over access to oil, wherever it is or might be found.

How the Reagan Revolution Succeeded: Strangling Government in a Bathtub and Destroying Public Services Message to Obama, the dike has broken and the deluge is drowning what is left of American government, particularly at the state and local levels, and Grover Norquist is seeing his dream realized of seeing the public good breathe its last breath as its head is held under water until it breathes its last gasp.

Who Says a Terrorist Attack Has to be In an Airplane? How the GOP Threatens Our Lives Republicans endanger America by trying to score political points and forgetting how vulnerable we are to foreign "cell" attacks on the ground, but also the GOP and its media shills foment domestic terrorism that is an equal threat to our lives.

When Congress Becomes a Subsidiary of Corporations, Democracy and the Free Market are Dead and Buried The return to our revolutionary roots of a people's democracy that triumphs over corrupt institutions begins -- as it did at Lexington and Concord -- with us. No violence is needed or wanted; just the power of the people, by the people and for the people.

Dems in Despair Finally Find a Champion Who Won't Back Off Defending Sanity: Unlikely Hero Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida We despair that too many Democratic senators (and Blue Dog House Representatives) not only don't have the courage of their convictions; they may not have any convictions other than getting campaign contributions from Big Money and Big Corporations. But Grayson stood up for the people of America over the corporations and corporate media in putting the facts, not the fictions, on the table -- and not backing down.

Afghanistan, America's Longest War, and the Perfect Arc of Failure Nothing has changed to improve our security in Afghanistan or Pakistan except that the area is even more volatile now. Nothing has changed except that a lot of contractors got rich, a lot of military higher ups got promoted, and a lot of politicians got to pretend they were Wyatt Earp.

Trump Intentionally Let the Coronavirus "Wash Over" America, a Failure by Design It is astonishing that the media, in general, is letting Trump (who has been proven to be a mentally-ill man many times over) adopt the narrative about "opening the economy up" when the small outside-the-home workforce in place is becoming increasingly infected.

Right Wing is Ginning Up the Outrage Against TSA to Privatize Airport Security and Prevent Unionization It is important to remember that the current outrage -- while personally understandable -- against the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) intrusive technology and pat-downs just happens to fit the anti-government narrative of both the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans in Congress.

FOX Won't Fire Glenn Beck: Here's Why FOX is Rupert Murdoch's main vehicle for ensuring the continued and unquestioned greed of the corporate ruling class, and Beck is the most successful gutter carnival barker in terms of churning up hateful and igniting emotions that they have. The Lies of "Conservatism" and the "Center" are Immoral The created fiction of the "center" is used as an excuse for inaction on behalf of America's obscenely wealthy interests. BP: Eco-Terrorism Inc. They Should be Prosecuted, Tried and Convicted Under Eco-Terrorism Laws Passed by the Right Wing BP was too cheap to use methods that might have prevented the Gulf disaster and it lied to the government about having any real semblance of a safety plan. It has a long history of knowingly not taking adequate steps to prevent spills because BP figured that there was more profit in being fined than in the cost of preventing spills in the first place. Throw the Top BP Executives and Its Two SubContractors in Federal Prison Until the Gulf Well is Capped and Damages Paid We think imprisoning the 15 officials from the three companies would result in a timely stopping of the horrific amounts of oil polluting the Gulf and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. Courageous, Fierce, Brazen: 3 Words You'll Never Hear Applied to the Democrats in D.C. Leadership requires those adjectives that the Democrats in D.C. scurry away from: courage, boldness, conviction. Afghanistan, America's Longest War, and the Perfect Arc of Failure The errant policy followed by both the Bush and Obama administrations has led us into a situation where we will be just where we were before the invasion of Afghanistan began. This is a failure of such stunning proportion that it would be a farce were it not so deadly, costly, and harmful to the American nation and what is needed to move us forward domestically.
